In honor of cupid, this week, we’re doing three days of a Valentine’s special— Red Velvet Cake. And the decadent cake doughnut will make a reappearance on Valentine’s day, February 14.
Mmmm, hmmm! Cupid’s arrows will be devastatingly sharp with this doughnut on your side. Now go win some hearts!

Gene & Jude’s Review

2720 River Rd
River GroveIL 60171

#1 in the country!  That’s right, the top rated hot dog in the nation is located in River Grove, right next to Hala Kahiki.  These dogs taste amazing whether you’re tipsy or sober and hungry.  Here’s a tip: eat the hot dog with the fries in it.

Loyal to Chicago tradition, Gene’s & Jude’s does not serve ketchup.  Don’t even think about asking for it, because rumors say they’ll spray you with a bottle.  If you really need your tomato paste, the McDonald’s next door sells packets for 35 cents!

Hala Kahiki Review

2834 River Road
River Grove, IL

If you’re into a more relaxed bar scene; enjoy odd, Hawaiian decor; or secretly love fruity and colorful drinks, but don’t want your buddies to know, then Hala Kahiki is the place to go.  Located in River Grove, Hala Kahiki will take you to a tropical paradise even in the dead of winter.

There’s a few things you should know about this place.  It’s constantly packed, the drinks are average price (about $6), and they have a large menu of fruity beverages.  These drinks are much better than your run-of-the-mill Chili’s margarita.  Also, they are very strong.  Watch out for The Zombie, because it will probably turn you into a zombie after one serving.

Hawaiian Sunset (short) and Zombies (tall)

Peach Daiquiri

Tiger Shark Martini (garnished with a shark gummy)

Chief Calabash (coconutty)

Key Lime Martini

Cheers!

Light, fluffy, fresh, and delicious.  If these words appeal to you then Doughnut Vault is right for you.  The lines are long, and you have to get there early before they sell out, but it’s totally worth it.  When they sell out they’re done for the day, so try to get there before they’re gone!
